Many of the Hoods, which we keep in stock include a white fur trim; traditionally this fur has been the skins of rabbits. We at Shepherd & Woodward feel strongly that the breeding of animals for their skins is not justified particularly with the quality of artificial fur now available. Other shops in town may offer you the choice between real or artificial fur but at Shepherd & Woodward we use ONLY artificial fur!
The hood, of Dean Burgon or Oxford shape, is of blue ribbed silk or art silk edged and lined with white silk or art silk. A square cap is worn (or for women, a soft cap if preferred).

Bachelor of Fine Art (B.F.A.)
The hood is of Dean Burgon shape, and is made from black silk or art silk, with a narrow band of gold silk or art silk inside. A square cap is worn(or for women, a soft cap if preferred).
Bachelor of Education (B.ED.)
The hood is of Dean Burgon shape, and is made from black silk or art silk, with a narrow band of green silk inside. A square cap is worn(or for women, a soft cap if preferred).
Bachelor of Theology (B.THEOL.)
The hood is of Dean Burgon shape, and is made from black silk or art silk, with a narrow band of magenta silk inside. A square cap is worn(or for women, a soft cap if preferred).
Bachelor of Letters (B. Litt) and Bachelor of Science (B.SC.) (Not Illustrated) A gown as described above. The hood of Dean Burgon shape is of steel blue corded silk or poplin with white fur fabric. A square cap is worn (or for women, a soft cap if preferred). These degrees have been superseded by the Master of Letters and Master of Science. The blue colour of this hood is similar to that used for the above mentioned hoods.
