Graduation Gown Hire FAQ's
Q. Can I opt for college delivery after my order has been placed?
A. Yes - your order can be changed to include college delivery up to three days before your graduation. Please select Academic Delivery and enter the information from your original order and request college delivery. Once you have made the payment of £4.99 your order will be picked up and altered by John or Dan in store.

Q. How do I know my order has been placed and will be ready on the day?
A. If you have received a confirmation email with a #SW reference number, your order is complete. We will have your order ready for your graduation day.

Q. When will my order be delivered to my college?
A. Your order will be delivered to your college on the afternoon before your event. They are packed in a Shepherd &Woodward bag with your order attached including your name, order details and the condition of hire contract.

Q. When can I collect my graduation gown from store?
A. You can collect your gown from 3pm on the afternoon the day before your graduation or from 10am on the day of your graduation. On selected graduation days we open at 9:15am for collections only.

Q. What is the latest I can place an order for my graduation?
A. While we prefer not to be known as Lastminute.com, you can order at the last minute if collecting from store. To ensure the right size of gown for your height, we highly recommend ordering in advance. On busy graduation weekends we can have all our gowns our for hire so we may not be able to supply last minute orders.
To avoid disappointment, book early.
FOR COLLEGE DELIVERY you must order at least three days prior to your event day e.g for a Saturday graduation the cut-off is 6pm on Tuesday.

Q. When does my gown need to be returned to the store?
A. If you have opted for delivery to your college then you can either return it back to the store after your graduation before 6pm on the day or leave it with the college porters ready for collection the following day.
If you have collected from store, please return your gown back to us in the black bag provided with your hire contract attached on your graduation day before 6pm or on the next working day. At selected times of the year our Varsity Shop is open on Sundays between 11am and 3:30pm. The main store is not open on Sundays. (Please check Varsity shops opening times prior to your graduation if you wish to drop off on a Sunday).

Q. I am unable to return on the specified return dates - what can I do?
A. All academic hires are for a 24hr period from the time of your graduation. If you are unable to return your gown at the designated time, please contact the store on 01865 249491 to discuss your options. Late returns will be charged at 50% the hire fee per every additional day its late.
