Graduation Gowns - Conditions Of Hire

The condition of the gowns, hoods and caps are the responsibility of the hirer whilst out on loan from Shepherd & Woodward, and the senders responsibility if posted back to the store.

Hires must be returned promptly after use by 4pm the following working day (please see the store opening hours)

Overdue hires will be charged at 50% of the hire price every three days from the original return date.

The facings on the gown and linings on the hoods can suffer severe damage if subjected to moisture and rain.   It is the responsibility of the hirer to keep all items dry on wet days. Should the items get wet please allow them to dry naturally on a hanger or return them to us immediately for careful handling.  Please do not attempt to iron them.

Any academic wear which is lost or damaged whilst on hire will be charged at a fair price, taking into consideration the amount of use the item has received, the charge may be referred to the discretion of the manager John Hicks, Academic Department Manager.
